Whats up with soccer Hooligans? Anyone see the movie Green Street Hooligans with Elijah woods?
IS that a realistic movie when it comes to soccer/football hooligans in england. I dont get what that club has to do with Football? Why is there gang activity surrounding soccer/football? Can someone please explain this part of football in europe for me?
yes but my question is why are hooligans, which are really just gangs, so closely attached to this sport in england? I’m from the US so i dont quite understand. Like here wehave gangs but its more about drugs, and making money in other illegal ways. But football hooligans it seems its just about their team and fighting other teams. I dont understand their motivation for doing this?
LOL….Its a long story do some research into it on google all the info is there for you too see, i would say green street portrays the hooligan scene in the UK very well, they obviously had to put a story line to the film, but its not bad, in the 80′s it was huge with gangs up to 400-500 following some clubs to meet with there adversary’s, every football club today still has a element of hooligans attachted to them all be it in lesser numbers than the good old day as the hooligans call it, back in the 80′s, it took a nose dive in the early 90′s because ‘so they say’ of a crack down from the government and police intelligence and banning orders i suppose it did have some kind of affect, but the main reason it kind of went away was because of the drugs scene a drug called Ecstasy and the rave culture took hold in the early 90′s which took alot of boys away from football, but some say its coming back in a more violent way there is a new younger element coming though at clubs ‘most clubs still in the UK’ and insome places in mainland europe Poland, Russia, Italy has major problems. i could go on and on but that will do.
as for the chap below me just go to you tube and do a search for football hooligans and you will see its alot worse than what you see in that movie.
