Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet fame plays his heart out for charity
As part of a fund raising exercise, a charity football match was organised between Coopers XI (from Burton on Trent) and an Ex-Arsenal Pro Celebrity team. The money raised was donated between the Ex-Arsenal Team’s chosen charity and the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which grants wishes for seriously and terminally ill children.
Organised by Nuala Bull, founder of Cloisters Inspirations UK (a company who specialise in supplying replica historical clothing from the Regency and Victorian eras to both collectors and theatrical and film companies atwww.cloistersinspirations.co.uk ) on behalf of the Burton Buddies, Nuala approached Target Transfers Ltd (www.targettransfers.com) who were happy to personalise the Coopers XI soccer kits for the event. “We really appreciate the cooperation and help we received from Target, who were both professional and sympathetic” said Nuala.
The Ex-Arsenal Team included celebrities such as Tony Hadley, Ralph Little, Patrick Robinson as well as ex-Arsenal players such as Alan Paris and Brian Hornsby.
Despite a spirited defence by Coopers XI, the Ex-Arsenal team won the match by 3 goals to 1. The event raised £2793.00 for the charities concerned.
Tony Hadley along with his fellow band members take to the stage later this year in europe as Spandau Ballet. Tony Hadley and the band appeared on Friday Night with Johnathon Ross recentley. The New Romantic band from the eightys (80′s pop band) which included Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp, John Keeble and Steve Norman announced that they would be reforming later this year (2009 tour). Some of Spandau Ballets hits were: True, Gold, Through the barricades, To cut a long story short, Instinction and Only when you leave.
